Whiskey-Scented Perfume Bound to Be Hit
LONDON—If you haven’t yet managed to catch the man of your dreams with all those lovely and extremely expensive perfumes, well then perhaps it’s time to try a new scent that, by capturing the essence of malt whiskey, is sure to be too heady to resist.
The scent, named “Spirit of Scotland,” has been created by George Dodds, a Highlands biochemist. The new perfume comes in a 17.5 ml crystal bottle and is expected to line the shelves of retail stores later this year, priced at around $140.
Although the perfume does not contain any whisky, the blend of ingredients has been carefully chosen to recreate the traditional smoky and peaty smells of island malts such as Talisker and Laphroaig.
Creator George Dodds said that the new perfume, which has taken three years to develop, is going to open up a whole new vista for the Scottish and world perfume industry.
“What could be a better scent for Scotland than the peaty, smoky smells of an island malt whisky? It has taken three years to develop and is aimed to appeal to a sophisticated buyer. This is a new and original direction in world perfumery,” the Scotsman quoted him as saying.
