Bill Blass
This fashion designer was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA. He began his New York fashion career in 1946, joining Maurice Rentner Ltd in 1959. He gained recognition, produced his own label, and in 1970 bought Rentner Ltd renaming it Bill Blass Ltd. He is known for his highly priced, beautifully cut and tailored women's wear notable for its inventive combinations of patterns and textures. Bill Blass is also known for his line of Bill Blass Pefume and Bill Blass Cologne Fragrances. Among his many honors were seven Coty Awards and the Fashion Institute of Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award (1999).
